havent updated in a while as ive been super busy with uni, did a project about how i see britain so will be uploading those photographs soon :)

theres a new shop operning which i can display and sell my sugar skulls in which is good so hopefully il get somewhere with that. Need to do some design work tho as my design brain seems to of died a terrible death atm and i need to get back on it !

anyway is bonfire night tonight so gonna take my camera out and hopefully get some good pics :) hope everyone has a fun and safe night !

Halloween

I am a big kid when it comes to halloween so i will hopefully beable to do some halloween inspired work soon :) flat is decorated and each day i keep finding more things for the party...

Im stuck for a costume atm tho as were having a party on friday, saturday is the local zombie slouch, sunday is actually halloween and then tuesday i am dressing up day of the dead style ! So so far i have tuesdays costume sorted just need some more jewels :), sunday were getting all smartly dressed for our halloween banquet. saturday is a toss up between zombie freddie mercuary or flaurence nightingale.. and friday im wanting to be the bride of frankinstiene but painting your body can be a pain so im not sure yet.

This photograph is so beautiful tho i think its going to have to be done :)

Christmas card designs

We had to design and make some christmas cards for uni. Unfornatly they were very limited as we could only use the text 'Seasons Greetings' so my origional ideas for doing a typography piece failed missrably as the words where too long :/ so i came up with these 3 ideas :)

To me christmas cards should be covered in glitter and be handmade but as they had to be made to print so i tried my best :)

Continuing from the previous post i decided to do a nortical themed piece. Im thinking of doing a few based on my friends, so the images will be things they are interested in or best describes them :)

I did these for my portfolio for uni :) unfornatly one got ripped when moving last year but it doesnt look too bad :)

Anyway i might do some more of these soon :)

Update

Been battling with my sewing machine all weekend trying to get it to work but i think the tension is too tight, but as i have been trying to sew toys and cushions this isnt much help to me.. think i new one maybe needed (it is about 25 years old lol ) but it just ment the cushion i have made for my grandma had to be hand sewed, it looks nice tho :)

I also found some photo's of some of the plush toys i made, two are sock cats :) my mum bought me a load of craft books for christmas and these were in there, they are similar to this but i have made them my own characters. Also there is the little black thing lol i made a comic strip for my portfolio for uni and he was one of the characters, i like his face :) I want to make all my other characters soon too.

skull mask

thank god this is finished lol ive spent about a week sticking dominates to this mask, im very happy with how it has turned out but in future i defantly need to find a better way of sticking them on :)

The black ones were ok 'cause they are already sticky but the silver ones all had to be glued on.. which is fine but they slip when there drying which is why there is some gaps but i still think it looks ok. This one is a lot heavier than the previous 2 i have made so im unsure how comfortable it would be to wear. Once i have finished the whole collection i hope to photograph them on some models (my flatmate most probably- she has fun hair so this should look good)

Uni starts back on the 22nd which is exciting but means even less time to do extra work so best crack on! :)

Sugar Skull Masks

made some masks today :) i cant seem to find any skull models so ive used these white costume masks instead :) going to get a load more so i can do different colours (rather than just black and red :) )

But halloween is around the corner so i should beable to find skulls everywhere ^_^

New projects (and on-going)

I have now got a million different projects that i have on the go; i just got a cross stitch pattern for a sugar skull so i want to do the first one on a canvas and then have a go at making some cushion covers. I also need to try get some more skulls to make some more sugar skulls :)

If i ever get some time off work i am going to go home and make a screen printing table with my dad so i can do some prints of my skulls quickly :) Once i have done all this i hope to put some of my work on etsy. and see if there is any interest in my work, even if i only make my money back will be nice to see if there is any interest.

Ok well thats it for now just a quick update now to get back to a million things :)

Tattoo

I already have a similar design on my right leg but on my left i want a similar tattoo but instead of a full skull i want half a womans face, classic pin up looking face :) so i have been drawing a few ideas and this is the one i am happiest with :)

I havent coloured it all in as im not too sure how i want it yet but im sure my tattoo artist can help me with that, and also this wouldnt be exactly what i get tattooed as it needs slight touch ups to it :)

Tarina Tarantino

One of my all time favorite jewelry designers, I found some of her designs when i was about 17 and i have been obsessed ever since, shame i dont have loads of money :)

As i have a love for hello kitty and pink hair im sure it wasnt long before i found her :) I have a few pieces of her pink head collection and some of her older pieces which i managed to find on ebay. My favorite is my black pink head hair clip which i have turned into a necklace and wear everyday :) (my tattoo guy thinks i should get it tattooed as it looks like me lol)

But anyway the point of this post lol she is a huge inspiration to me, eventhough she is not a graphic designer, jewelry design is something i have always been interested in and i do try make a lot of stuff myself. All her original jewelry was made from old watches and luckily it took off and she got noticed and over the years has developed a very unique style, it may not look like it now but she was one of the first people i saw making jewelry this way :)

Hear are some of my favorite pieces :) cant go wrong with skulls, swarovski crystals and some glitter ^_^

Her jewelry is worn by many famous people, i think a lot of her success in earlier years came from these people wearing it. I first saw it on Paris Hilton, and as i love trashy celebrities had to find out what it was :)

Sugar Skull Inspiration

I really want to make some wedding themed skulls, theres quite a lot online but i think it would be fun to use lots of different materials. Hear is just a few things i have found so i can look at colours and layout for pieces :)

Wow havent updated this in a while.. working 6 days a week will do that tho i guess! lol

Working on a day of the dead inspired project at the moment, not the zombies tho, the mexican festival. I read something about it a few years ago and have loved it ever since, so much i have a gypsy/sugar skull tattooed on my left thigh :)

I have started drawing onto skulls i found on google to get an idea of what i want to create, as i fail misrably at drawing skulls from scratch but this is something im working on. I also have some polystyrene skulls which i have painted, have took some photos for hear but will take some better ones soon.

I want to do this so my friends faces too, so hopefully i can get some clear photographs of there faces to do this with.

Hopefully can get this all done in the next week or so as i have recently become obsessed with Michael Hussar's work and am looking into doing some paintings in his style.
